Aha! SFO was switched over to 738s within the last 12 months (a bit less if memory serves me right), and you're right, there is still a single M80 to DFW, one to AUS, and maybe a few others. However, those could be spokes of DFW-based ones (one straight to LAX, the other routed through AUS), so LAX would still qualify as a hub without any M80s based there.

I assume you mean 2003. MIA has not been an Madog station for a long time now.

About 50% of my trips in or out of DCA & DFW are S80s. 2x3 is not bad in Y, especially in exit if an upgrade fails.

It's 2017 is the current estimate when they are gone so a while yet. But greatly reduced. At their peak there were 360 in the fleet we will be down to roughly 150 by the end of this year. Well less then half so being fazed out pretty quickly of that fleet size.

I earlier heard 2020. AA will start repainting some them soon.

Out of curiosity, I just looked at their timetable. LAX still see's 80's to/from AUS and STL.

Starting flying from BOS and MIA, they are all gone from here.

And fortunately AA also serves Coca-Cola products.

Wrong. April 2005 was the last time there was scheduled S80 service into MIA. With that said they do show up occasionally still, particularly on the ORD-MIA and STL-MIA routes as equipment subs.

JFK does not get scheduled MD80s

Before I knew better than to drink any soda, I was a Coke guy, so this was welcome. Pepsi = sweeter taste = less good (IMO). Now, of course, the soda comparisons are irrelevant.

Cheers.

Meanwhile, LGA-ORD is still pretty much all MD-80s, so you can't miss them there. I will say that MCE on the MD80, while old-looking, is perfectly tolerable, and the engines being so far back make the experience quieter than the 738 (or other AA equipment).

Question for the knowledgeable: why does AA call them Super 80s on the gate screen? Edit: Ah, Wikipedia points out that was the plane's name before they were renamed MD-80. Surprised the name still persists.

Seems that almost any flight out of STL is on an MD80.

Out of AUS, most flights to DFW and ORD are on MD-80s. 2/3 flights to LAX have recently switched to 738; I can see LAX as the next hub to become MD-80 free so that 1 remaining AUS-LAX MD-80 flight could go to a 738 soon.
