Challenge question: Elite bonus on the qualifying flight?

Quick question: does one earn elite bonus miles on the flight that brings you over the threshhold (5 or 10k points) + have the miles for that flight count for earning upgrades?

Don't remember about the threshold upgrades, but you will get the bonus miles for the flight that brings you over the challenge requirement.
