My original complaint about the PA in Mandarin was not about the accent, but rather the awkward way they were delivered. The FA's on the SJC-TPE flights that made the Mandarin announcements are almost always native speakers. It was obvious that the FA's did not practice making the announcements prior to show time.
I just arrived Taipei again three hours ago on AA151 from SJC. I am glad to report that the announcements made in Mandarin today was the best I have had since I started my monthly trip on this route in May.
