Combining AAdvantage and Dividend miles
Hello all,
I apologize if this has been asked, I've searched around but can't seem to find a clear answer. With the upcoming merger, I was wondering when, if at all, we will be able to combine Dividend and Aadvantage miles? I am trying to plan a trip to Africa for the end of the year. As of now, I am Gold status with AA, and should be Platinum by the time of this trip. My options are: 1. Use 75,000 AA miles to Nairobi, but with taxes, and all internal flights would have to pay $1260.30. 2. Buy a ticket outright on Lufthansa and pay $1990.94 (which includes all internal flight). The Lufthansa flight is much easier (I wouldn't have to spend the night in Nairobi) but I just wanted to make sure that if I pay for that ticket outright, I would eventually be able to combine those miles that I earn with my AAdvantage account. Does anyone know when, or if these points can be combined? Thanks in advance. |
Yes you will be able to combine the both accounts but the chances of that happening before the end of the year are slim. I remember that when UA and CO merged it took about 18 months before the two programs were merged.
