Well UA had some other issues too... there are dangers to making conclusions on such limited data, after all AA's upgrade rates dropped over the last year and PRASM went up.

That is true, but I think it is telling that the data to support your claim is just as inconclusive as mine...

AA has taken how much you spend into consideration for years. It's called EQPs.

Hello Vegas, what are the odds on this one happening?
Uh oh, well perhaps the USAir philosophy has been infused into service already.

That's why most non US based airlines don't give free upgrades.

I belong equally in the front, and I'm typically a cheap elite.

No, it's because of lack of competition. This merger moves the US market towards that, however.

LGA-MIA 7:00 AM departure. PDBs in first. Boarded 10 minutes early since it is a full flight.

As a midtier flyer, you'll need those extra miles and a copay for international flights if you're buying coach tickets with AA. How do you upgrade your international flights as a midtier US flyer?

I had almost forgotten that there was such a thing as domestic flights

Right, most of us have picked carriers based on our type of flying, destinations, typical fares, etc. so we have optimized for that in picking a carrier. That's why the possibility of changes are so disturbing. I fly international 6-12 times a year. Even when I was a CP on US most of that was on UA because for international it provided better options for service and upgrades at the time.

On another note, I don't know if it is connected to the merger, although I suspect it is, I got a call from American executive services yesterday, just calling to discuss things and see if I had any issues I wanted to raise with them that impacted my satisfaction with AA. I wasn't around when they called but they left a number to call back which I will do in the next few days.

Hello Vegas, what are the odds on this one happening?
We had no PDBs on LGA-DFW or DFW-PHX yesterday morning.

However, we did have a passenger holding a USAir ticket for DFW-PHX that was permitted to board (and exited when she realized she was on the wrong plane - ruh roh.)

The odds that in a merger management would say they would take the best of both companies? Approximately 100%.

Never mind.

I'm on an AA flight, sitting in first. We leave early, scheduled early arrival. PDBs are served. While waiting at the gate an incredibly attractive woman boards and proceeds to sit next to me. Breakfast was good. GoGo is fast and i had a free pass for it (AA gave me 40 free ones). I'm cranking Led Zeppelin on the earbuds. Praise the New American. Praise Mr. Parker. All is well.
