It's All AAmerican. The eagle is mostly gone. The American flag stripes replace it. Internationally, it reminds one of a flag carrier, and perhaps that is its purpose where its survival lies. Real. Genuine. American. No mistaking this one.

Maybe it's just me, but my first reaction to the tail was that we are definitely merging with US Air. Something about the flag look of it...

I don't think its that bad. AA was definitely feeling pretty dated. I just hope they don't "enhance" their award chart!

Why on earth would they have a logo that looks like it fits nicely on a tail, then not put it on a tail??

Does that mean Obama is going to bail them out of BK, and it will become the first State airline of the USA?

Maybe that's how they will AAvoid a merger with US?

It's not though - the beak is in the slash of color up front, the wings of the aircraft form the eagle's wings, and the vertical stabilizer evokes the feathers on an eagle's tail.

The new logo isn't half bad, but the tail looks like someone had too many bomb pops and puked all over it.

I like it as well. They really could have messed it up. Is the little gray swoosh on the symbol supposed to be the beak of an eagle?
