It is the norm, in my experience. I've shared a flight with FC Dallas from ORD-DFW. I'm also a big Sporting KC fan (and season ticket holder) and I've had chats with some players and they fly commercial Y, often WN. I've also seen the team in the "TSA" line at MCI, flying WN.

Melissa Rivers in F on AA 21 tonight.
She's pretty grumpy--our flight is delayed 3 hours. I overheard the inbound crew (AA 2) telling the outbound crew that they had to land in Pittsburgh to take on fuel due to weather over PA. Then upon landing it took an hour to taxi to the gate.
So I'm grumpy too.

Almost sighting - Olivia Wilde departing from YYZ the other day during/after the Toronto Film Festival.
There was a big confab at the check-in desk about "papparrazzi", with an AA official in a tie, talking about procedures of what, where, when, and how to get someone through. Sounded as if they were Royalty.
Even after being allowed to check in after the delay (I was right at the counter), the agents were still gossiping amongst each other, until I was finally able to ask: "Did I hear the word 'papparrazzi'?"
Unfortunately, she was going to New York, and I wasn't.
So I asked:
"Can I change my itinerary to go through New York?"
Anyone have an actual sighting?

Randy Jackson on AA 185 from JFK to LAX this past Friday, 9/13. Very nice to everyone who chatted with him. Danny Green from the Spurs was also on the flight.

Harrison Ford in 1K on Cathay Pacific 880 HKG-LAX on Sept 10. Escorted on board with agent carrying an awkward looking cardboard and tape packaged carry-on with Shangri-la logos (gift shop merch?). Someone from the cockpit came back to have a quick chat before landing. On arrival, the first class cabin crew (+ purser?) asked for a photo with him in the front galley with the curtain drawn, which I've never seen before. Potentially unprofessional, but he didn't seem to mind, and also quite understandable. It's friggin Han Solo, Dr. Jones, etc...
