PriorityAAccess Question

Booked an O class fare few weeks ago, along with my girlfriend, in the neighboring seat (she purchased separately but at the same time). Checked in online today (again, at the same time as my girlfriend) for my flight tomorrow and noticed that my boarding group was PriorityAAccess while hers was Group 2. I don't have any special status with American, nor travel with any great frequency. I was curious A) what this status allows me, and B) any reason why I would have gotten it while she didn't (or if she can get it now so we can board together)? Thanks.

You must have a Citi AA VISA card.

With PriorityAAcess, you can board earlier and go through the PriorityAAcess TSA line for security. Read up on the huge thread here on FT. Search for PriorityAAcess.

That's strange - I thought AA had corrected this glitch where non-status cardholders were receiving Priority AAccess on their BPs - it should now say "Group 1". I can confirm because I was one of those until I hit Gold last week. OP can you clarify if you have that card? Just curious. The other way you could've gotten it is if you paid for it when you bought your ticket but in that case you'd know that.

You can board together. Just present your Priority Access boarding pass and tell the AAgent "she's with me".

I have one, although my ticket wasn't booked using it - I wasn't aware the benefits applied regardless though. Thanks for the tip!
