I just hope that these cancellations don't ripple into our flights to LGA on Saturday (11/3) and back on Monday (11/5). Right now they look pretty open for upgrades

Cheers.

I am at dfw Admirals club C as I type this. Things are oddly quiet here. Looking at the board, the closest you can get to the east coast is Pittsburgh. I was scheduled to fly dfw-lga this am and am instead, thankfully heading home.
At the hotel last night there were a number of New Yorkers in town for a trade show who are stuck for the duration. I would venture to guess that it will take at least a couple of days of flying full schedules to get people where they need to be. As to brp, not sure the city is the place to be next weekend. I just booked stl-lga for next Monday with a Tuesday return for 25k miles.

Electronic upgrades do not get pulled from your account until your flight departs, so you will not have a problem.

Probably would have been safe to operate the subways until midnight last night.
It's one thing for an airport to be technically Open. It's another to be sitting on an RJ trying to land in winds that are currently 30 kts and gusting in the 40s with forecasts for gusts into the >50-kt range.

The NYC subway shutdown at 7pm Sunday night was not so much about passenger safety. It was about giving MTA sufficient time to move equipment to higher ground and to secure their facilities. As noted on the local news this morning, it's one thing for the subway to get flooded with fresh water; it's a very different thing to get flooded with saltwater from the storm surge (think corroded switches and signals), which is what they are hoping to prevent down in the Battery where many subway lines converge.

The FAA site mislead you; ACY has been closed since early this morning ( but no mention of Andrews being closed):

http://www.fly.faa.gov/flyfaa/nemap.jsp

The closure of ACY is listed below the line (in the ADW box), so the FAA shares a lot of the blame for the confusion.

A few other minor airports are closed, but I just saw Weather Channel footage of the PHL airport with plasitc bags placed over all ticket counter computers and kiosks.

Not bad today, however tomorrow is another story. We are supposed to have 45 mph sustained winds with gusts to 60+. If that comes to fruition there will be an impact at ORD/MDW. This lady's kicking waves up to 25 feet on our little lake East of the city, which is just a tad unusual.

Not sure where dstan got the info, but this is the current NOTAM for JFK (although dstan's better, as the NOTAMS are indeterminate):

Code:
10/246 (A4418/12) - AD CLSD. WIE UNTIL UFN. CREATED: 30 OCT 02:22 2012
In english: aerodrome [i.e. airport] closed. With immediate effect until further notice. Created: 30 October 2012 at 02:22Z, or 29 October 2012 at 21:22 local time.

LGA is:

Code:
10/157 (A1542/12) - AD CLSD FIXED WING. 30 OCT 00:26 2012 UNTIL UFN. CREATED: 30 OCT 00:28 2012
In english: aerodrome [i.e. airport] closed to fixed wing (i.e. not to helicopters etc.) from 30 October 00:26 2012 (29 October 19:26 local) until further notice. Created: 30 October 2012 at 00:28Z, or 29 October 2012 at 19:28 local time.

I thought it was a typo, too, but it was straight off the FAA website, which has since been changed to reopening times "unknown"

http://www.fly.faa.gov/flyfaa/plaintext.html

Local news reporting LGA was flooded at the intersection of the two runways at the peak of the surge, but water has since receded.

Storm surge in Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan peaked at 14 ft vs 11 forecast. Lots of flooding throughout low lying areas. Power out below 42nd St. No reports on the subway yet, but tunnels flooded and bridges closed due to high winds.

UA and DL allow changes to be applied as a credit for any future flight without change fee beyond 10/7 if the change is voluntary.

Does AA allow this?

AA from MIA to JFK tomorrow (Weds 31 Oct 2012)?

Is there any chance this flight is going to get out? I need to get back to NY, get clothes and make it to another city on Thurs. does it look like AA's JFK ops will be back online tomorrow or should I try to route throug a different part of the country to be sure I get where I am going on Thurs?
