The rebate program (which began in April 2012) applies only to primary card holders of these cards:
  • Citi Platinum Select AAdvantage Visa Signature
  • Citi Platinum Select AAdvantage World MasterCard
  • Citi Platinum Select AAdvantage World Elite MasterCard
  • Citi Select AAdvantage American Express
It does not apply to the Citi Gold World MasterCard, Citi Executive products, or some of the Citi Business cards.

The maximum rebate for any cardholder in a single calendar year is 10,000 miles per AAdvantage account. Having more than one qualifying Citi AA card will not allow you to receive a larger rebate.

The way I see it. You can get up to 10000 miles for the $95 annual fee. So it works out to be roughly a penny per mile.

Everyone I know would love to buy aa miles at a 1 cent each.

I booked a 50k OMA-MIA on May 5 for travel in March and got a 5000 rebate. If 10k is the limit that's a bummer, planning on a 200/225k Euro for summer of 2013; I have the $450 card I'll call to see if we only get 10K.

Just got off the phone Citi she said Citi Executive is not limited to 10K.

You're saying with the Citi Executive we can get more than 10k miles back a year?

As they seem to be rebating miles before travel has taken place, I wonder if they have system in place to check that the awards aren't cancelled.

That is what the Citi rep told me, she was kind of chatty so I asked her if she had heard anything about extending mm benefits to 2013 and she said she hadn't heard anything but they were well aware that many of us will cancel if they don't.

I'd say the agent is likely to be misinformed. I booked 200k of awards in April (in one go) and only got rebated 10k despite having the Citi Executive card. If we weren't limited to 10k then there's no reason why more (20k?) wouldn't have been rebated.

I totaly forgot about this new benefit. I booked award flights on 4/19 and then closed my AA Citi cards in early May. I just looked and I received the bonus miles in my account. It just goes to show that as long as your card was active when you booked the award, you are still eligible. Sweet!

Because the benefit only came in on or around 1 April this year.
