As a Brit I would normally find the blowing of trumpet pretty ghastly, but seeing as it's a Monday here in HKG and the weather's rubbish I'll make an exception:

Well done to you, Sir.

A lovely act of kindness, OP. You did the right thing rather than the easy thing. You should feel good about it.

This was a caring act but calling it "heroic" for any reason is a YMMV.
I agree that it certainly was NOT heroic.

Thus, the never ending dilemma of emails, IMs and texts being misinterpreted.

Anyway, well done, OP! I think he didn't mean to say he's heroic. Actually, your act even gave a sorry feeling to the couple who stole your 6A to sit together. A selfish and selfishless act on the same F cabin at the same thing. A good lesson to learn.

Pay it forward

Not all acts of kindness need be anonymous.

LOVED the story, and agree that if only one other person replicates this act in the future from our 'hero's' posting....further good will be done.

Over the top? Heck, this is FT...you can't just post, 'hey, i gave up my F for a person' now could he?

Perhaps we should have a designated 'FT community gives up F' day?

Think of the number of threads we'd have about the joys of Y that day . I wouldn't want to be a moderator that day!
