The moral of this story is that the OP did a good thing.

Isn't AA just as "heroic" for giving the OP a free gift (ie, an EXP upgrade at no charge ?).

It's not free, nor is it a gift.

Chivalry lives

I knew there was a reason I wanted to travel in F. Obviously, its the only place on the airplane where good manners abound. How many TATL flights have I endured with the person in the seat in front of me in E fully reclined into my lap!

I agree and with that will crack open another mini to salute our hero (nice guy, good story teller, or guy with way to much time-yeah I have to much too!)

Then you have pretty messed-up definitions of those words.

Dear Grandma Goy,

Today I would like to inform you of our new Christmas Rewards program. In return for your usual $5 check, I will send you a handwritten thank-you note. If you send $10, I'll sign said note with several "XO"s. And for a $20 check you will automatically be enrolled in our VIP program, receiving not only a phone call but also an original crayon drawing as a free gift!

Sincerely,
Science Goy

OP did a nice thing, bottom line. So what if the post is a bit self gratifying? He made someone's day, and really, that's all that matters.

I agree it was a great thing to do. And I believe that one can still do the right thing for the right reason even where ego is involved. The "philosophical" principles which dictate that one kind of action is better than another always seem to hit the same subjective wall by sticking their head in the sand or failing to come up with any "objective/pure" way of arbitrating between competing imperatives. Even Kant largely declined to tackle the problem. Ergo, I think everyone should just do good and if ego "gets in the way" because they'd like to feel good about it and lead by example that's OK.

Nice job to the OP ^ It sounds like he is telling us this tale more out of his appreciation for the appreciation of the woman and her family and the AA FAs who served him.

If your post is missing, think about why: dilatory, off topic or offensive characterizations (such as cracks about cancer) or replies to same have been deleted summarily.

Kudio's to the OP for giving up his seat and posting about it in a humorous way.

Regardless of what it means to any of us the mom and her family will remember it for a long time.
