Again, thanks for your concern, but I personally feel no conflict in feeling free from the grudge and anger of the crime committed, while also ensuring society is properly served by prosecuting a criminal who may have done it before and might do it again.
I think it is an amazing story and that you are doing the right thing by pursuing charges. Hopefully this incident will persuade other FAs to do the right thing regarding belongings that are left behind on a plane. Just because you forget something doesn't mean you no longer own it. I left an iPod in a back seat pocket once and never saw it again. It can and does happen. I have been chased down and handed back books and magazines that I left behind, low value, go figure.

I think a better excuse from the FA would have been that she was punishing you for stealing the person sitting behind you's foot/storage space.

you do realize that 'round these parts, that's a bigger sin than the FA stealing your items (assuming there was a person seated behind you...)

Is it standard these days though to use size-varying fonts in blogs?

She was wearing sunglasses, a hat, and a hoodie and at first I didn't recognize her (plus, I was mentally trying to relate her image to a passenger, I honestly never assumed it was the FA). It wasn't until the officers informed me moments later that the woman who had my stuff was a FA that the recognition dawned on me.

I immediately recognized the body shape, size, age, and skin tone of the woman who came in handcuffed, compared to the two other FAs on the plane who were also speaking with me at the gate in Dallas.

So, to be honest, there was no meeting of the eyes, no knowing stare filled with shock and wonder...although that would have been awesome. But, I have no idea what was going on behind her dark sunglasses. I suppose I'll have to wait for court to have that moment.
Thanks for sharing here on FT!

I love how FTers think alike. That stood out to me too. I would never impose my baggage on someone else's allocated space. That's the price to pay for the bulkhead.

Back on OT, I agree 100% on pressing charges. I don't care how religious someone claims to be (I am curious what religions condone a "finders keepers" stance) that should not exempt them from consequences of their actions. Even crimes committed in the name of religion deserve justice.

Haha. I thought a lawn manager was some sort of garden gnome who stood watch.

BTW dannyk welcome to FT. I was rude in not acknowledging as was your first post.

I still would not have prosecuted, but would have instead contacted AA to insist she be removed and/or confronted her. But that's just me. Accountability can be accomplished outside the legal system too.

Based upon the OP's incident, I would gone ahead with prosecution based upon the fact that the OP enlisted her help and she tried to cover up by pretending to be the overly concerned employee that went above and beyond the call of duty.

It appears as though she had taken the bag with the devices before leaving the a/c. When the OP approached her she could have done the right thing; gone onto the a/c and come back like she had just found the items. But instead she pulled a total fabrication. This shows the intent of a very devious person.

Is American Airlines aware this employee has been arrested? If she still flying or has she been grounded pending court action?

The passenger next to me in F yesterday DFW-SFO left a pair of glasses behind. I noticed them on the floor as I was leisurely getting out of my seat, passed them out to the aisle, where they were passed up to the flight attendant, who yelled at the passenger on the jetbridge to come back and get her glasses. I doubt she intentionally left them behind. I've left sweaters, a neck pillow and glasses behind before. If you run across a nice Irish wool sweater from Killarney it's mine.
