At least we were the first off the plane to be rebooked. Once the GA was done with us, she had to send everybody back down the jet bridge.. Too bad they can't rebook in F on DL

I made the flight by a hair. The gate agent came back down the jetway and let us on. Since no one was at the counter when we got there I thought we were cooked, so I started talking to the 550 ord gate agent. I think it was going be an uphill battle, so I guess I'm happy things worked out.

The layout of that airport baffles me. I HATE having to reclear security and I thought it was weird that Aa or as didn't dispatch someone to escort us or whisk us away (I can dream, right?).

When I read the title I thought you were talking about your Costa cruise.

For those trying to follow along, here is the summary. I know I was confused at first.

The OP was flying SEA-SFO on AS, connecting to SFO-DFW on AA since they wanted to take advantage of the EQM promos. The SEA-SFO flight was delayed due to weather.

Upon arrival in SFO the OP had grand expectation of receiving a personal escort from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 and apparently was confused about how to make the connection. Furthermore the OP was miffed that all of the SFO gates are not connected airside and they were forced to re-clear security.

In the end they made the SFO-DFW flight at the last minute by getting the agent of an ORD flight (AA618 the 17:50 departure) to contact the DFW gent who had closed the door to the jetway to dispatch the flight.

captain updated that they are trying to fix the issue, if not we change planes, which won't be available for 1.5 hours.

I'm def missing my connection

edit:
another update from captain ... issue fixed but we won't leave for another 20-30 min... still might lose the connection ...

OP for this miss should again be in the air, so the query will be merged with the 2012 flight cancellation / delay thread. /Mod

AA18, the SFO-JFK redeye usually uses the inbound 177 but yesterday, a 767-200 arrived from MIA which was turned to be my flight to JFK as AA18. I'm glad that we didn't have to wait for AA177 from DFW otherwise I would've lost my J seat.
I was on 177 on 5 Jan, don't know what caused the 762 to 757 downgauge. However, on the 757, the heater broke in the cockpit and when the temp had dropped to 40 in the cockpit. At first, the FA told the F pax we'd be heading to Tulsa, then as we descended the problem began to resolve and the pilot announced we'd be heading to DFW , so they had us continue - at 10,000 - 12,000 feet - to DFW b/c it was a better location to get a replacement plane.

It was a really long day . . .

Spot on. Sorry, for the confusing story. I typed the whole thing out on a tablet in air.

So I asked the FA about my connection and she said I would probably end up in a hotel in ORD, so I asked to be rebooked and stayed an extra night in BOS because I'd rather sleep in my bed than a hotel.

I then had them rebook me on a different flight:

AA 2419 BOS - DFW
AA 2419 DFW - LAX
AA 1706 LAX - LAS

I figured that would net me an extra 1300 EQMs, 2600 EQMs with the DEQM promo.

However, I am going in to check in right now, and although both separate flights show up, the seat assignment shows BOS-LAX. The agent told me that there is a one hour layover in DFW, where I intend to exit the aircraft and reboard because it looks like it might need volunteers.

My question is .. given the same flight number with that stop if DFW, would that be considered 2 different flights and earn me segment miles or would I get the typical mileage for BOS-LAX direct?

EDIT:

I just checked via the reservation section that the flight going BOS-DFW is flying virtually empty, but the flight DFW-LAX is practically full. I will try to get a better seat assignment for BOS-DFW and then deplane and reboard and hopefully that will result in the mileage I seek.
