Wow. So fast
I guess they are so desperate for cash.

They did that last year too. The 15k bonus for 40k miles is great!

how long does it take to post miles when purchasing?
I'm a few miles short and have a reward ticket on hold. will eventually decide whether to purchase the additional miles, or take my mom up on the offer of using her points for the entire ticket (and compensating her for the points, FWIW)

Someone who bought the maximum miles yesterday and the maximum today would now be able to book a round-trip to Asia in CX F for around ~$3,000 total cost. The cash price for those flights would be at least $25,000.

And of course using an AA card for the purchase will add more value to this deal as well.

great deal? We hope so!
We bought the max miles yesterday. We're adopting 2 kiddos from China, and have been saving miles for well over 2 years now! Our dream is to fly back from Hong Kong with them in business class. We've saved a lot of miles but we are having tons of trouble finding Award seats on the flights we want over and back...and our dates are flexible within 5 days on either side! We're also willing to fly out of other AA cities in China like Beijing and Shanghai. It's kind of discouraging thought we haven't given up hope yet!

Do you all advise buying the max miles per year? It seems that if you can take advantage of buying miles i.e. 40k+15k bonus @ 1100 a year, the savings of redeeming them for a FC RT ticket to NRT for example are great. In 2 years and a CC bonus. You can fly very cheap Thoughts? I bought two sets of 22k+6k last week for a BC ticket to Europe. I value my miles more than the class so for me It was worth using 40k for the economy seat and buying miles for the upgrade.

Well not really because buyAAmiles and giftAAmiles transactions are limited to a combined maximum of 40,000 miles, per account, per calendar year. I guess you could save a couple of years.
