Q about award redemption rate - SEZ- US
Hi,
Yesterday I was inquiring about award availability for a one-way trip from SEZ back to US, on EY. After being confused for a while, the AAgent was able to stitch together couple of options, with stops in AUH and in Europe. Though neither of the options worked for me. However, I asked her to quote the mileage required to book this itenirary anyway, and she replied with the following: 70K for economy, 92.5K for business. This is one way.
When I look at AAdvantage All-Airline Award chart it shows that the one-way redemption rate for Africa-North America should be 37.5K for economy, 75K for business. Why was I quoted much higher redemption rates?

Award travel from Africa to North America may only connect in Europe. Unfortunately the only AAdvantage partner airline that flies to SEZ is Etihad. Because of this you must book two awards, Africa to Middle East/India and Middle East/India to North America.
You can refer to this disclaimer on the partner award chart:

If no participating carrier offers direct service between origin and destination zones, certain awards may be unavailable or multiple awards may be required.
