Thanks JDiver for the breakdown.

It's interesting: of the $1705 that BA charges, a whopping 38% is fees -- which, of course, couldn't care less if it weren't for the fact that these fees are charged for mileage awards (representing a reduction on value of the awards -- by 38% in this case)
