Sure enough, the 1,000 miles I got in this promo do indeed count as qualifying activity for the purposes of mile retention! What a absolute bargain!

Thanks OP -- I won 1000 miles. Hopefully they will post as I used my dog's facebook account (I don't have one) and listed my AA number in the appropriate field.
