Where will we end up in DFW airport after CUN-DFW?

We're coming back from CUN in a few days, arriving at DFW. We're planning on meeting the in-laws there as they have a flight out a few hours after we arrive. My thought was they would go through security and we would meet them inside security. However, if we go through customs, will we automatically be sent to baggage claim? Or will we be able to stay on the secure side to meet them?

I took a look at the flights from CUN to DFW for tomorrow and they're showing a Terminal D arrival with "CUST" as the bag claim location. Based on that, it would seem that there's no preclearance at CUN and you'll wind up outside security at Terminal D. If you're looking for a meeting place outside security, the bar at the Hyatt adjacent to Terminal D might be a good spot.

Edit to add: here's a list of CBP pre-clearance facilities. CUN is not on the list. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/c..._locations.xml

Thanks. The in-laws will have our son with them so we were hoping to meet all of them inside security & visit for a bit before the in-laws have to head back to ORD.

Thanks for the tip on the Hyatt, I'm sure they'll have some sort of restaurant we can meet at.

Once you clear Customs you will exit the sterile area. To get back to the secure side, you would have to go upstairs and back through TSA security. If I read correctly, you will not have a connection, so you will not be able to get back through.

Yes, the Grand Hyatt has a fairly nice restaurant adjacent to the bar area.

it would probably cost some money, but why not schedule a "business meeting" at the AC in the terminal your in-laws are departing at. that would get you a security pass to go back through security. claim bags, put in car, go through security again and meet with the folks at the club, for 5 minutes or so, then leave for the place you want to eat/drink at.
