UA will give you Premier Executive up front if you're EXP, and then you need to fly a certain amount of miles in a set period to retain it for the current year (in my case 15,000 miles in 90 days), as well as meeting the requalification requirements to carry it into the following year. I was a "general member" when I was comped to PE last year.

And if clocking another 100K on AA all I get in return is another 8 evip, I would much rather give this 100K to another airline. And I'm sure what I can get in return will be much more valuable than another 8 evip is a single airline.
Its all about opportunity cost, dont they understand ??

You get Free domestic F, as EXP, and DOUBLE miles, and a plethora of other benefits that even PLT do not get?
What don't YOU understand?

Me too, got the 8 for requal EXP and nothing else so far.
I have 4 VIPs from this past year that I won't use, extras do nothing for me.
141,718 points(0 until Executive Platinum)
104,962 miles(0 until Executive Platinum)
68 segments(28 until Executive Platinum)

Is that a special deal for you; 96 segments for EXP?

If United goes where you want to go, call them and they will give you a challenge to make top status with them for the equivalent of one R/T to Asia and back for next year.

I think the vast majority of people here know someone who would appreciate their unused SWUs. I am appreciative of the extra SWU's I have earned in the past couple of years through promos and passing a MM level. If flying another carrier is more beneficial for someone to fly, after earning EXP status, then I think they should fly the other carrier. Of course if this is their first time earning status on that carrier, it might have to be done the hard way, without the benefits of top tier status on that carrier.

Same goes for the lazies who sit back waiting for the computer to release their EXP domestic upgrades. If my upgrade - domestic - does not clear at the 100 hour mark, I ALWAYS call, and the majority of the time, 51%, the EXP agent gets it to 'push through.'
And if not then, I call back every day until it does 'push through' and my EXP domestic upgrades have all pushed through, at least 24 hours before a flight, 100% of the time - this year.

And if I'm reading you right - 51% success on your first (T-100) call; increasing to 100% success at T-24 - is that right?

Hmm, never knew you could do this. I will try today; is there anything specific to request beyond "hi, I'm EXP and please can you push through my waitlisted "sticker" upgrade"? Some secret handshake or anything like that? I have a hard time believing that an agent would call Inventory Management to release a seat just for an EXP waiting for a free UG...
Agent: AA EXP, this is Jane Doe. Good afternoon, Mr. SFO
SFO: Hi Jane, I noticed that three other EXPs were upgraded yesterday at T-100, but I was not, and First appears to be wide open. Wonder if you could check on that?
Agent: No problem, Mr. SFO, let me take a look.
Less than 5 seconds later...
Agent: Would 4E be OK?
SFO: That would be great. Thank you very much.

i dont doubt it can happen, but I do the assertion that all you have to do is bop the EXP desk on the head every 24 hours, and it's successful the "majority" of the time.
