Although it is clearly laid out in the T&C travel packages are NOT eligible for the bonus.

I can confirm this myself, I redeemed Marriott points for a package, received the miles the next day, and did not receive a bonus.

Just in case anyone was hoping to get lucky, don't count on it.

You should get:

(31,000 + 5,000) + 35% = 48,600
(pardon my math format)

Yes, you do it on the SPG site.

No - nothing special, other than being sure to send at least 20,000 points per transfer to qualify for the 35% bonus.

Interesting. My Marriott transfer took a few days to post -- but only the converted miles are shown, not the 25- and 35-percent bonuses.

I'll give it a few days and then contact AAdvantage CS. Anyone else encounter the same problem with a Marriott points conversion?

Just to be safe- to get the 35% bonus, do I transfer 20,000 SPG points since in the end, 25,000 AA miles will post prior to AA35% bonus, or should I transfer 20,001 SPG points since the AA bonus will look at the actual 20,001 miles transferred to AA before the 5,000 miles bonus from SPG?

People have reported that the 20K transfer does the trick. I think the key is that AA sees the 25K, and that's all that matters.

In the FAQ's:

To earn the 25% conversion bonus, member must convert points from eligible AAdvantage program hotel participants that result in 1,000 - 20,000 AAdvantage miles within the Promotion Period. To earn the 35% conversion bonus, member must convert points from eligible AAdvantage program hotel participants that equate to 20,001 or more AAdvantage miles within the Promotion Period.

The bolding is mine. Since a 20,000 SPG conversion *RESULTS* in 25,000 AAdvantage miles, you will receive the 35% bonus. If it makes you feel better to transfer 20,001 SPG points, do so... but it certainly isn't necessary per the T&C

This is still SPG, right?

Assuming so, my vote is "yes." I figure the 35% bump for doing it now is still better than the 25% for round lots of 20,000. In the future, that's the best you can bank on. There may be another promo like this, but that's a gamble, and this is bird in the hand.

yes, spg

thanks...one reason I am considering it is the room that you get with spg points is always the standard room, i never stay in standard rooms or try not to, so i dont know how much i would pay for an upgrade and so on, just dont seem worth it to me to use on rooms.

My Diners Club points have now arrived into my SPG points. 60K of them on their way to AA now, and the remaining 60K will be set tomorrow. So another 202K AA miles should arrive on Monday .
