Ok, I need ANYBODIES Help on what to possibly do.
My brother, his wife and two sister-in-laws (4 passengers) were planning to go from LGA to (GUA) La Aurora (Guatemala City) tomorrow on a 12:15 flight.
On the AA website it says:
1) Does that mean it still needs to originate from LGA on AA metal or can it be from either JFK or EWR, and does it sill need be on AA metal (if not, what other metals can he fly on?).
2) They offered him a 6 am flight to miami, which would require me to wake up at 2:30, pick up up at 3:30, and get to LGA by 4:30. If it has to be done, it has to be done...but everyone would REALLLLY prefer to try to change this if possible. (Dont know if it can be changed to an EWR or JFK flight or if AA has contracts with other airlines?)
3) Also, does anyone know if there is a possibility of any sort of comps (or a comp room tonight by LGA), if so how should that be brought up, or is just not possible.

I panicked then, thinking the Icelandic one had flared up, but then noticed GUA.... Not a European destination I thought...
Hope all goes well, some of us have been caught up in serious delays with the one in Iceland.

I'm glad your relatives are getting out tomorrow.
I can't believe AA got the code wrong for San Salvador on its website:
That should be SAL.
Depending on where someone wants to go in Guatemala, San Salvador is a (comparatively) reasonable five-hour trip from Guatemala City. No fun if GUA is your destination, of course.

Interesting... volcano also shutdown GUAYAQUIL's airport (GYE)
MIA-GYE today at 7:25pm was canceled due to volcanic activity in Guayaquil's Tungurahua

Looks like AA will have some birds down in GUA for a while. The rain from Agatha is reportedly turning the ash into cement.

I was going to suggest rerouting around that area with LAN or AeroMexicano, but seems you already found a solution!!! Good luck and safe travels-
