CX planes, and CX-AA transfer

I may be flying HKG-(US west cost)-ORD rather than HKG-NRT-ORD as planned. A couple of questions:

1. Do you have any preference between the CX 744 and the CX 773? I'll be in Y.

2. Do you have any preference between transferring at SFO or LAX?

Hi,

I have only flown on the 773 btw HKG and LAX/JFK (3 separate trips) in Y...for what its worth, it was fine in coach. As an EXP, I was able to call CX and pre-book an exit row aisle seat (row 31 I believe). CX was even able to block the middle seat for me, which was key on the long flights.

As for SFO vs. LAX...One of the advantages of LAX is the availability of the Flagship Lounge (assuming your EXP) once you arrive...its great to take a shower there after the long flight. I also thought the staff was excellent.

SFO no question IMHO. Which would put you on the 744. I don't believe CX has moved the 773 to this market yet like LA.

I have done HKG SFO DFW many times.

Customs is fast and painless. The walk to AA is easy and within no time you can be relaxing @ the Admirals club.

Only upside to LA is the Flagship lounge.

744

In Y, the seating on the newly configured 744's is much better than on the 773.

The new Y seats have a 'fixed-back' design - similar to AA J. This means any recline of the person infront of you does not encroach on your personal space.

If you were flying J however, I'd recommend the old business class product on the 773 instead of the new coffin design on the 744. But that's a whole new discussion!
