Twice in the past several years, AA has sought to change the blend of nuts, and in both instances passenger feedback resulted in AA reverting back to the original mix. The first time they added soy nuts, the second time they increased the amount of almonds to save money on the cashews and guess what, passengers who aren't nearly as fanatical as those of us on this board noticed. The warm mix nuts is one of those simple things AA does right, why they need to keep messing with it is beyond me. |
they still have too many damn almonds!
as far as i am concerned it just hurts their bottom line ... since i keep picking them out and keep sending back for refills :) |

Laugh if you will, but the mixed nuts (and the sundae which is now offered on mid-cons) have become essential elements of the AA premium experience.

I agree it is amazing that they keep trying to pinch it when everyone more or less seems to like it. |
On my last two flights (DFW-MIA and MIA-YUL on Oct 12) the nuts were the regular mix however they were served in small glass wine glasses rather than the usual small bowl.

The existing NUT mix is NOT going away
I spoke to someone from Dallas who was at the AA BOS Club (70 anniversary party) last week. They had a room set up with the menus and food for various premium class flights (transcon & international - breakfast, lunch, dinner). The nuts are NOT changing other then maybe a slight change to % of mix. A little less almonds (the presentation is too dark).
The flights to Hawaii do have a different mixture (the sugar someone talk about). I mentioned to her somme people complained about the sugar type nut mix and suggested they offer a choice as they do on flights to Japan. She also stated sometime the local caterer may have a supply issue and may substitute for a particular flight day/week. |

And gogo was free! There's a new promo code for new users. Seems to also work for users that have "forgotten" which email address they used last trip.

When it comes to warm nuts. Definitely worth the concern! |
RDU - ORD always serves the warm nuts on the AM flights. Odd to have OJ and warm nuts, (well ;) at least for me). I have encountered the nuts in a wine glass thing recently as well - do not care for it. Please put my warm nuts in a ramekin.

My Atkins diet makes the mixed nuts about the only thing I can eat on AA, so if these were replaced by sugar coated I'd be packing my lunch. I once did a MR with 4 transcon and 2 TATL legs and ate nothing but mixed nuts and celery sticks from the LAX AC, and yes, I'm proud of that fact!
