General Information
Despite it's size and five terminals, DFW is a fairly easy airport to navigate and connect though. If you have any difficulty, look around for kiosks / booths staffed by volunteer Ambassadors - they can usually be spotted wearing "ten gallon" cowboy hats. They offer maps and terminal guides (which include dining and shopping information).

There is no need to leave the secure area to move from one concourse to another. *Exceptions are arriving international flights. In such case one must normally clear immigration and customs, reclaim bags and proceed through security.

Terminal Link's blue and greens vans arrive every 10 minutes and will transfer you between all terminals once outside of security.

Walking between terminals
- Terminals A-C and B-D (international) are connected at the ends by departures level walkways; the people mover belts on these walkways have been out of service at least for years. Estimate at least a five to ten minute walk between A and C, B and D, more if gates are farther from the connector.
- Terminals A and B are connected by overhead walkways (escalator or lift / elevator). This walkway is serviced by working people mover belts, all of which are out of service as of 7/18/19. Courtesy carts use this route by using lifts.
- Terminals C and D (international) are connected by overhead walkways (escalator or lift / elevator). This walkway is serviced by working people mover belts.

Q. If I am making an international to international connection, what is the process?
There is no international transit process in most U.S.A. airports, but (DFW and MIA have a ITI baggage exception for international to international if arriving from some "approved" international origins). Arriving internationally, unless you have been pre-cleared or are excused by meeting ITI requirements as described here, you must proceed through U. S. immigration (there are kiosks and a fast channel for Global Entry approved passengers, and a "green line" for those with no checked bags), recover your baggage from the baggage carousel and proceed through U. S. Customs. There is a "green line" shortcut for passengers traveling only with carry-on baggage (no checked luggage) and there are Global Entry kiosks and a short cut to Global Entry queues.
Upon exiting Customs there is a bag drop facility; drop your checked connecting baggage, exit to the landside arrivals area.
NOTE: if your connection exceeds 11 hours or entails remaining overnight, you will normally be required to take your baggage with you and re-check it within ~four hours of departure.
NOTE: Any liquids in excess of security allowance will have to either be packed in checked baggage or, in the case of duty free purchases at your origin (or in air from other airlines), presented in STEB (Secure, Tamper Evident Bags) with receipts to TSA
Proceed to the kiosks to get boarding passes for your ongoing travel, or check in and re-check your baggage, then proceed through TSA security to airside (see the "DFW Security" section). Your international departure will be from Terminal D, also your international arrival terminal.

Arriving Passengers: After collecting your baggage, follow the Rental Car signs to the designated pick-up area on the lower level of the terminal. From there, board the Rental Car shuttle bus. Buses run 24 hours a day, depart (theoretically) every five minutes and reach the Rental Car Center in approximately 10 minutes.

During Off Schedule Operations / Irregular Operations, cots with blankets and pillows are available for affected passengers.

You may be able to at least get "distressed traveler" certificates for lower rates from AA, or you may be able to request distressed traveler rates from reservations center's or properties.

DFW / Dallas Ft. Worth Connection & Times - Domestic & International (consolidated)
What will customs be like at 2PM at DFW? I am thinking of flying into DFW instead of MIA because I know customs is usually a total mess at MIA for any of the available South/Central American arrivals.

Those who scheduled NRT-DFW-MIA AA 60 with only 1 hr 30 mins in DFW should be <redacted>. We sat for 30 min at the gate in DFW waiting for passengers from Japan.

I'm sure you are being facetious - but I'm also sure you would feel differently had you been on the connecting pax from Japan. The MCT for AA Int'l - domestic from a widebody flight is 1 hr 25 minutes.

I would probably be more pissed if I was travelling from Japan. They should increase the Mct for such a large airport.

My concern is the short connection (set by AA) and the fact that I selected this flight specifically for the 77W and so am not so interested in being rebooked to the later 777 flight (assuming there are even open seats in F).
Is this connection time realistic?

Resurrecting an older post, but similar question. We're booked SAN-DFW-LHR in F in April, but the AA generated routing only allowed 40 minutes for our connection in DFW.
My concern is the short connection (set by AA) and the fact that I selected this flight specifically for the 77W and so am not so interested in being rebooked to the later 777 flight (assuming there are even open seats in F).
Is this connection time realistic?

If you are set on flying 77W, then you probably don't want to risk a 40 minute connection

Thanks guys, problem is wife is on a milesaver F award. Talked to AA and was told that (get this), dropping the SAN-DFW leg and paying for an anytime award would break the whole award...
Oh well, can't see the logic as AA usually would prefer us to use more miles, but looks like we'll be hoping to leave SAN on time; fingers crossed. Will just have to camp on the website to see if any savers open up on the earlier flight (14 of 16 seats in F available currently, but who knows when or if savers will release).

Hello everyone.
I will be flying into Dallas in a couple weeks on Delta. I have a bunch of activities planned in Dallas but I also want to spend an hour or so at the airport while I am there. Does anyone have recommendations for a good way to see the airport in a 1-1.5 hour time. I will probably take a loop on Skylink but does anyone recommend walking through the concourses too to see them or do they all look the same/that would be a waste of time? I know the AA hub at Dallas is impressive so I'd be fun to explore some of their terminals. I'm not sure the next time I will go back to DFW so I want to spend a short time exploring.
Also, I was looking at going to the CR Smith Museum or the Frontier of Flight Museum. Anyone have any thoughts on these?

Terminal D is fairly nice, but the rest is a total dump. If you have an Amex Plat, check out the Centurion lounge in D.

The Centurion Lounge is quite nice. If you don't have an Amex Plat, there are some free Samsung lounges sprinkled throughout. Around D16 and D30, there are some sculptures that you can play around for a while to occupy your time.

55 minutes to connect?
We may be taking a flight from DCA connecting to the nonstop to ICN through DFW in July. Our current itinerary has a 55 minute connection time. We're flying First (the two of us) and our kids will be in First with us on first flight but business on the one to Seoul.
Should I be concerned? There is only one flight a day to Seoul.
We could take an earlier flight, but that would mean we would take off from DCA at 6am (so we would have to leave our house at 2:45am or so, yuck) and would rather have the extra hour!
Flight is on hold till Friday, as this trip is in the process of planning with in-laws.

15 minutes are enough to get between gates at DFW. So then it comes down to the question of whether you think your flight will be on time. Absent terrible weather, a fairly early morning flight (which you will be taking) is very likely to be on time. And if the weather looks terrible, you should be able to call AA to switch to the earlier flight the day before.
If you do miss your connection, the worst case scenario is probably that you fly via NRT or SFO/LAX and arrive later the same day. Not terrible.
