In the new May 1st issue of American Way, there is a rip-out insert with a promo for "Up to 25% off PLUS 5,000 AAdvantage Bonus Miles"
Avis is rewarding AA members with a savings of up to 25% and 5,000 AA Bonus Miles. Book a weekly rental between May 1, 2011 through August 15, 2011 for a rental taking place August 15, 2011 through December 15, 2011. AWD # K817100 and Coupon # MUAA042
Website is listed as http://www.avis.com/aa5000 but isn't working.

The coupon is only valid for rentals within the US or Canada.

Doesn't say on the rip out, but the previous 3,000 AA Miles/3 day rental and current 2,000 AA Miles/3 day rental don't have a max on them.
Last year Avis had a 5,000 Delta miles for 3 day rental with a max of 25,000 miles. Hopefully we'll know more when they page goes live.

Thanks dannyrube! I just saved $40 from my previously booked AA special rate. If DH gets 5,000 miles too - that would be even better. :-) Oh just read about it being a weekly rental requirement. Ours is not a weekly - so I'm guessing no bonus miles - but I'm still happy with the dollar savings.

Be aware dates!!!
Too bad the rental has to take place between Aug 15 and Dec 15 but the BOOKING has to be prior to Aug 15. It's hard for me to plan that far ahead.

Made a reservation online but nowhere did the avis website allow me to enter my AA#. Also, it never explicitly stated that I had a weekly rate, instead, 7 days, 8 hours.
So I called to verify.
The agent said the coupon code is good for 5K bonus miles, he entered my AA# onto the reservation, so I think it's all working fine.

If you have an account with Avis, log in or enter your Avis# on the entry page when booking.

Are you allowed to use a separate AWD (Corporate) with this coupon and still get the bonus miles?
