Thanks for clarifying. Was a bit confused there.

According to the converter at www.webflyer.com, if I

transferring 50,000 AA miles will result in 100,000 HHonors points

transferring 50,000 HHonors points to AA will result in 7,500 miles + 1,875 bonus miles. Uh, no, thanks.

On the other hand, transferring 20,000 SPG = 33,750 AA = 67,500 HH.
What's worth more? 20,000 SPG or 67,500 HH?
Nice deal for Hilton fans I think...

seems like everyone is transferring points at SPG

it took me more than 20 minutes to accomplish this. I kept getting an error message that asked to try again, I did manage to get through, lets see.

Interesting point. Even with the HH devaluation, the 67.5K HH would generally get more than 20K SPG.

It's too bad that this promotion doesn't give bonus for going from AA to hotels (HH). We transfer miles out of AA and into HH, so that would be nice. The suggestion above would burn some SPG (so not as good as a straight AA->HH with bonus) and may be worth considering.

Cheers.

transfer procedure

It sounds like I have to call Marriott and they manually transfer the miles. It says up to 7 weeks.

It appears I can do Hilton transfer on line.

Has anyone had a different experience?

Thanks

I want to move just over 180K SPG to AA as this will put me over 2MM Lifetime on AA. In reading the T&C it looks like I have to move this at 3 times 60K SPG over three days.

Has anyone moved this many miles and does the math work?

180k SPG transferred over 3 days will net you 303,750 AA miles.

I moved about that many 18 months ago when Delta had their 150% bonus transfer promotion and everything went smoothly. As long as you stick to a max of 60k SPG per day you will be fine.

Do you all read this to mean that the 35 percent bonus miles will only be Redeemable miles and won't qualify toward lifetime elite?

The T&C say:

Bonus miles will be posted by American Airlines to the qualifying AAdvantage member's account within 7 business days after the initial conversion activity has been posted by the eligible hotel program participant. Bonus miles earned in this promotion do not count toward elite status qualification.

The miles won't count towards published elite status qualification. Lifetime status on AA is an unpublished benefit that counts all miles earned, regardless of the source. Bottom line is they will count towards lifetime Gold or Platinum.

Easing Your Concerns

Thanks for everyone’s interest in our hotel conversion bonus miles offer – it is a sweet deal! We noticed that there’s some anxiety over conversions possibly being excluded if they post after the promotion period – but no worries! As long as you make the transaction within the time frame listed, then you will qualify for the bonus miles regardless of when the transaction is credited to your account. As for the green diamond next to Marriott, every Marriott brand – except for Marriott Vacation Club – is eligible. Because of that one exception, the Marriott “Family of Brands” did not get the green diamond designation.

Enjoy!
