YEG-PHX 737 flights & YEG-LAS A319 flights coming

In the Edmonton Journal on Aug 30th

(YEG-PHX)"..... During most of October, it (AWA) will add daily service with a Boeing 737-300, including a first class cabin. After AWA will serve the route with four weekly regional jet flights plus daily service with the larger Boeing.

AWEA will upgrade its service between YEG-LAS, replacing a regional jet with an Airbus A319, starting Nov11. The three weekly flights will increase to five , then to daily flights on Nov. 18, with first class seating."

No mention of HP dropping the YEG-LAX NS, you'll note.

I didn't see LAX-YEG in the schedules...with the reduction of CR9's....some routes will have to be dropped. Even looking at other RJ routes from PHX to CA and other destinations, there are more CRJ-200's showing than before.

Here's the official PR from the ERAA on the changes you'd mentioned:

www.awtimetable.com/AWA.pdf

shows daily YEG-LAX NS ending as of 6 Sep., then it drops to four times a week (Mon., Wed., Fri. & Sat.) Sorry, not dropped altogether, just reduced I guess is the word I should've used. :)

Glad the LAX run wasn't dropped...it does very well. Probably smart to run it only on days that have highest loads.

LAX-YEG is being discontinued as of 13OCT05.

I wonder if it is only for the winter....or does traffic pick up in the winter....I"m not familiar with the area...

Altaflyer Sep 2, 2005 8:18 am

Traffic should pick up in the winter.

Sorry, my bad. My work CRS shows that is correct. The NS is done as of 12Oct. to be replaced with a direct via PHX to SNA daily except Sat.'s. :( Last time I trust HP's online timetable...
