Full H & Y Fare Upgrade - Can you be downgraded?
I am trying to find the most cost-efficient way of ensuring that I am booked in F for my wedding-honeymoon flights (yes, we're getting married in Vegas).
We are both Silver Elite. I have currently booked the refundable coach fare for our trip and we are confirmed in F. Has anyone ever been downgraded from this type of fare? Thanks -- an anxious fiancee. |
Yes, although it would be highly unusual. So-called YUP fares are Coach tickets that book into discounted First Class inventory if that inventory is available. However, it is still a Coach ticket. Thus, if the flight is cancelled and you are reaccommodated on a later flight, you are not guaranteed an F seat.

In case of irregular ops, involuntary downgrades can happen to any F seat. So if the aircraft is changed or the flight is cancelled, even paid F can end up in Y.

You can be downgraded !
Hi
It can happen. Happened to me. About 8 months ago. From LAS to SNA. Coming home from Vegas with G-Friend. We were confimed F. Both Row 3. Booked months in advance. Plane changed from Airbus to 737. Maintenance issues. Plane substitution. Last minute. Now row 3 is Coach. Only 8 "F" seats in a 737. Got a $ 300.00 Voucher. So always go for the first 2 rows when booking F ! Remember. When dealing with the airlines. Anything can and will happen. bltserv |
