I’m just surprised they’ve reinstated multiple daily flights from the west coast and it’s only one daily from JFK which is the only east coast city.

I’m a bit surprised, too, but I guess ORD has better connecting traffic being a UA hub. The O&D traffic might not be there yet. I was on HND JFK last week and it wasn’t as packed as my LAX HND flight the week before.

I do wonder though — since JFK is slot-controlled and the waiver for international flights expires October 29 (unless the FAA decides to extend it again), would that make NH more likely to restart NRT-JFK especially now that Japan is reopening?
(Am also personally kinda invested in this since I have an F award NRT-JFK for April, but booked through OZ so I'm not sure if they can make NH rebook me on the HND-JFK flight if NRT-JFK doesn't resume)

Maybe because they are alternating between the NH9 and NH109 slots to not loose them?

Moving NH109 up to 12:45pm reduces the amount of time the plane spends on the ground at JFK, as it arrives from HND in the mid morning.
Before the pandemic, when JFK had both NRT and HND flights, I believe NH swapped aircraft between the two routes at JFK. HND-JFK arrives in the mid morning, and the same aircraft turns around as JFK-NRT departing at or around noon. NRT-JFK arrives in the mid afternoon, and the same aircraft turns around as JFK-HND departing in the early evening. I believe this is the same pattern they did at ORD and will be doing again with the resumption of daily NRT and HND flights.

MNL-HND arrives at 8pm, can't connect to JFK flight that leaves in the morning.
HND-SGN departs at 5pm, too early for JFK arriving at 6pm (new earlier JFK departure should fix this)
HND-CGK/MNL/SIN all depart at 10am
Other connections can be made same day but with long layovers vs NRT and other hubs.
HND-BKK departs at midnight, 6 hour layover, will be 10 hours with new schedule
CGK/SIN/BKK/SGN-HND arrives before 7am, which means 3.5 hour connection to the JFK flight

I just want my JFK => NRT F award for April LOL. I had 3 flights booked beginning of the schedule over the past year in ANA First, crazy that I may not actually be able to fly any of them!
