Redemption for international travel with an infant
 
OK, this is a very tricky one..

I am redeeming ANA miles for international travel with an infant. Outbound is with united and inbound is with ANA. For the united one, the baby hasn't reach 2 years old, but she will reach 2 years old for the ANA one. The baby will remain in the destination for a while and does not need to travel back together with me.

My question is, can I register an infant child for only the outbound leg of the trip? If ANA doesn't like it, can I talk with united to get it done?

You typically have to call the operating carrier to add an infant to the ticket, so should not be a problem if you just call United.
