Domestic upgrade
Hello, just booked tickets from ITM to HND for next Feb. We are in economy at the moment, what is the chance we can upgrade to premium at the airport? And how much would it be if available? I’m hoping it’s such a short flight, not many people bother paying more to fly in premium. The reason I’m asking is that we may need the extra baggage allowance. Thanks.

Same day upgrade is 11, 000 yen, if you are an AMC member, you can upgrade 2 days in advance at 10,000 yen.
Generally, my experience is that the premium cabins fill up and quite a lot with booked tickets. You can try some dummy bookings for your flight number 3-4 days out from today and see how it looks to get a feeling for the loads

Over at JAL, few key domestic routes have first class service and HND-ITM is one with first class service. Reason JAL chose HND-ITM for first class service is because there is a demand for that.
It is Thursday evening at Japan. I am looking at Friday’s ITM-HND reservation on ANA website. There are 15 flights on ITM-HND and only three flights have availability in Premium class, first two flights in early morning have availability, and one flight at noon time has one seat available. All other flights are sold out in Premium Class.

And, for 415 seats 777-200, you will see 50-100 passengers in Diamond member priority lane, and 100-150 passengers in Pirority lane in weekdays.
There are small number of non-status members in this route.

Totally agree with what was mentioned above.
If you want a better chance at snagging an upgrade, you should fly Kobe UKB-HND or Kansai KIX-HND. If are you are in Central Osaka, going to ITM vs. UKB isn't that far off, maybe 20 minutes more or so for UKB. On the flipside, going to KIX is a bit of a nuisance unless you're in Southern Osaka or are in proximity of Kyoto or Shin-Osaka Sta., in which case you could book a Haruka Ltd. Express to KIX - though probably not worth the effort just to upgrade a 55 mins flight!

My experience as well. Feels like 1/3 of the plane is Diamond and the rest platinum etc.

Not posted as S class on other FFP.
A few years ago, table for NH's domestic and UA posting class was listed in FAQ sticky.
However, I couldn't see anymore.
