Probably, kaka implied that isn't good strategy.
There is possibility of rejection of credit card application.
If you already have a credit card issued in Japan, probably no problem.

Oh yeah sorry, I churn credit cards in Japan regularly, so I don't expect it to be a problem.

Sorry to heap on the questions, but do you have a Japanese address? It seems that the SFC card can only be delivered to a Japanese address.

Yes and yes. They do have to limit it to people with a connection to Japan, otherwise it becomes too simple to devalue the pseudo-lifetime Star Gold status (and already, there are WAY too many members in Japan - the lounges are absolutely packed with people with the SFC card...)

After 20 mins. waiting for a seat in the ANA lounge at New Chitose airport , I gave up and waited by the gate. It's only going to get worse

Yeah honestly I don't even bother with domestic anymore. They're small and absolutely packed to the gills. This is more for North America where local top elites can't get in
