All Nippon Airways (ANA / NH) has opened a lounge that opens on the 24th at Daniel K Inoue International Airport (formerly called Honolulu International Airport) in Honolulu to the media on May 8 local time (9th Japan time) . Opened with the service of the two-story Airbus A380 "FLYING HONU (Flying Honu)", it can be directly boarded to the upper deck (second floor seats) of the first class A380.
ANA has established its only own lounge in Honolulu for overseas destinations. It will be the largest in the airport and open on the 3rd floor of Terminal 2, above the C4 boarding gate on the Eva Concourse. An "ANA Suite Lounge" for first-class passengers and members of the highest mileage service members and an "ANA Lounge" for business class customers, etc. It will be possible to cope with overlapping flights operated by A380.You can board the upper deck from the 3rd floor boarding gate where the lounge is located and the main deck (1st floor seat) from the 2nd floor boarding port. read more here (with pictures)https://translate.googleusercontent....ln-FpqZy2ErmtA

I'm NH Diamond, living in Japan. I just snagged what might have been the last remaining J seat on NH184 on 5/24 for the inaugural from NRT. I'll be (hopefully!) heading to the SUITE Lounge at HNL on 5/25 in the morning ahead of my return flight on NH185. I'm traveling alone (whole reason was just to fly an inaugural flight once in my life), so I could totally guest someone in to the SUITE Lounge if they happen to be going to HNL on 5/25 for NH185.

I have a scoop:
The delivery ceremony for the Green Turtle "Kai" A380 will be taking place tomorrow afternoon at the Airbus delivery center in Toulouse (local time).
I will post again if I have more detailed information with times, etc.

Could not get a good picture from the JAL lounge, but the ANA A380 was testing gates at Haneda tonight.

Have they got other airlines 380s at Haneda?
If so, HND must already have ready gates and facilities for the aircraft.
The wing span is massive. A380s have clipped other aircraft wings in the early days.
ANA will have to see the loads to Hawaii how they are doing the first two years
if things are different after the novelty effect has faded.
They can always use them to other destinations.

The A380 is too heavy for the D runway built over the sea, and only allowed to use the C runway. Due to wake turbulence, it is only allowed for night time operations, but due to noise restrictions on runway C only very few night time operations are allowed from runway C. So basically operating an A380 in to Haneda risks getting it stuck there if C closes for wind direction, operational reasons etc.

When will the 3rd A380 start to operate?
Does anyone know when the 3rd A380 ticket will start to operate and sell or how can I spot one seat there for that red turtle like plane? I know they already got two, but rarely mentioned the 3rd one besides a picture. Thank you guys!

Is ANA offering any promotions to make use of the tokyo-honolulu routes on a 380?
I'm planning a new years trip, YVR-HND/NRT (never been to HND and would love to try). Always fly AC YVR-NRT direct and excited to try a different product. Ideal routing would be YVR-HND one leg, and the other leg with a HNL stop over for couple of days.
Would this only be doable as two single one ways?
Mods please move if this is the wrong thread

The reviews are starting to tick in.
https://airwaysmag.com/special-fligh...380-inaugural/
It seems to me that they did not do enough training flights to make the service flow correctly. The argument of the big premium cabin is neither here nor there, the 77W has 52 or 68 seats so 56 should not really be something that different.

I find that puzzling as well, especially considering that they are serving the medium haul style single trays in business class.
