It seems that there are other limitations at HND that make A380s impractical to operate on a scheduled basis, most notably a weight restriction on the "floating" Runway 05/23 that an A380 would bust with a typical load. This Japanese article from last year goes into some detail:

That's very interesting. I do wonder why the C runway is that restricted in night operations, from a noise perspective it does not seem to be close to any residential areas But it does effectively kill they A380 option

I then wonder why Haneda bothered building a gate with 3 boarding arms for the A380....

Apparently one big reason was to accommodate A380 diversions from NRT...

Eventually I would expect them to open for awards as they do for other flights to Hawaii. But I would also expect them to be even more coveted than usual. So probably not easy to come by.

The picture with the actual seat in focus does not make it appear very comfortable or welcoming. More like hard and sterile, not a very premium look. I do know these are computer generated images, so we don't know how it truly looks, but it seems they could have done a better job

Short videos of the livery, plus photos. Quite the roll-out of the Flying Honu.

I watched the livecast of Honu's roll out ceremony in Hamburg.

I've been waiting for this aircraft a long time, since after they at ANA announced the design competition winner.

I am one of the original Singapore Airlines First to Fly the A380 inaugural flyers. This is something different again. I don't want to miss out.

Any idea when they will open the online ticket sales for the inaugural flight? I was told mid-January.

Have any FTers got anymore precise information on this? Any insiders?

I want to be on it. It's a MUST. I am not looking for luxury. A window seat on the lower deck will be fine. I will do the return flight on the same aircraft. Double inaugural.

Honu is a beauty. Can hardly wait to see the 3 together!
