The question was for a Thai Airways flight. But I am not sure if NH runs this as a permanent offer, or it was a campaign at that time.

Anybody have any strong feelings about bulkhead seats on 77W vs non-bulkhead? I am currently in 8E but 7 at bulkhead is available as well.

I'm a bulkhead guy!

I usually take 5A in the 773 and like being as far forward as possible.

Bulkhead is more quiet and generally has more legroom. Or at least I feel that way and it makes it for a smoother ride

Solid choice. 7A is my preferred ! The larger cabin seems a bit more "airy".

7A has a small closet on the aisle side which serves as a barrier of sorts, thus creating a bit more privacy. My favorite J seat on this bird as a result.

Has anyone else run into the issue where seat 1A is blocked on Expertflyer?

Typically 1A is blocked for VIP, high value flyers, etc.

I am sure this has been asked before and I tried searching but was not able to find an answer.

I have the option of flying SJC-NRT on a 788 or LAX-NRT on a 77W. There are two of us flying together, is there any real benefit of flying on one aircraft or the other? I think the seat size/layout for two people is pretty much equivocal.

Did you look at the cabin layout?

I flew NH 5 and I took some photos of J seating and it's staggered.

ANA Seat maps Here

777 - all versions

787-8

Two together might be better on the 788

I would also consider the risk of an equipment sub.

I just had this happen to me on an upcoming YVR-HND trip. 789 with Business Staggered swapped with an 788 with Regional Business Class seats. NH refuses to allow me to reroute because they view the two as equivalent.

Think the risk of that happening on the LAX route is much lower than on SJC.

I did look at the seat map and it is suppose to be the staggered layout not the regional layout (the first one picture).

Good point. I did not think about that. I agree that is a lot more likely to happen on SJC.

This was capedreamer's comment. Your post attributes it to me.
