Delayed Baggage

I flew from ATH to BCN via FCO with AZ last Wednesday. All bags in the flight from FCO to BCN have not arrived. Not a single bag made it. All passengers filed cases. Four days later when checking online it still shows “searching”

i’m worried that because of the situation with Alitalia, it might be possible that they won’t be trying to return the bags as they know that they won’t be liable to any compensation once they go under.

What do you think? Are my fears realistic? Or will they at least care for their dignity and work to satisfy their last customers? Do you think I should consider flying to Rome to get someone to search for the bag myself?

i don’t mind the delay. I just fear that the bag will never show up.

Dignity?
They can't even spell it.

Last friday I walked for 1,5km in order to reach the airport and one week ago they advised to hold the luggage on board in order to avoid problems (= "we're gonna make trouble with it").
I don't know if going personally there would make any difference. I'm not an aviation personnel but feel free to contact me if you need some help.

I just knew about the warning yesterday. Had I known, I would have gotten rid of the extra liquid toiletries and kept the bag with me.

I’ll keep trying with them for a few more days. I was told that after the strike, they would start moving ythings. If not, I will let you know for sure, but what can you do? Do you know anyone who works there and can search for the bag and direct it for delivery?

I feel as though I 'dodge a few bullets' yesterday flying with AZ.

Flew CTA-FCO-ATH yesterday and priority bags arrive within seconds of me walking up to the carousel.

However at FCO yesterday, I witnessed the police being called to the AZ Customer Service Desk with angry passengers yelling in Italian about the multiple flight cancellations, (including NCE/BCN/CTA), and again today/tomorrow there are once again dozens more flight cancellations for most of the afternoon hours.

I hope the OP gets his bags delivered soon.

Their baggage tracking system is now down. They neither respond to email nor answer the phone.

i really don’t know what’s the solution for this!

Nothing special, maybe calling and speaking the same language could be helpful

Any updates on this? I'm supposed to fly Alitalia from FCO-JFK (Delta codeshare) tomorrow, and I still see a notice on their site warning customers about only taking hand baggage. I'll obviously take anything even remotely valuable in my hand baggage, but one of my luggages is simply too large in size to bring onboard.

Not quite sure what to do here...I wouldn't be all that upset if the big checked luggage arrived late, but I'd rather not lose it entirely...
