Earning status in 2020

If I'm not mistaken, AZ have been silent about how they will treat qualifying for CFP/CFA this year. I have read that other airlines have already announced that they are automatically rolling over status to the following year. I imagine I will begin flying again for work in September, but though I should make CFA, it's now highly unlikely that I will earn 80k qualifying miles in 2020.

It would be nice if AZ could give their loyal customers some sort of comfort in this area. Then again, I've lived in Italy since the 1990s, and I know that round here things are normally announced at the last possible moment. Maybe they're putting off the decision until March 2021.

To answer my own post, I received this notification today from Amex:

---

---

In other words, Alitalia Amex Platinum cardholders whose Ulisse or Freccia Alata (no mention of Freccia Alata Plus - not sure if this is a deliberate omission or an oversight) expired on 30 June 2020 but weren't able to garner enough qualifying miles to renew, have their memberships extended to 31 March 2021.

No mention of the treatment of Freccia Alata Plus members like me whose membership will expire on 31 March 2021 anyway, but who will struggle to qualify this year, given events. No mention of the treatment of non-Amex cardholders either. Guess we have to wait and see, but evidently they are at least addressing these issues.

Do you know when the AZ lounges might re-open?

No idea. Suggest you monitor this page:

My first flight since February is LIN-LHR in 3 weeks' time....I will report back then.

Does anyone know if the SkyTeam lounge at LHR T4 is open?

I’m Ulisse and mine expires 31 March anyways, so I don’t see what’s changed.

The gesture was extended to [some of?] those who lost status last month and who also have an Alitalia Amex Platinum.

As such, those who still have status were not intended to be covered by this particular targeted gesture.

Just received this email. Better late than never!

This is also good news:
Translation: "What's more, this year-long extension can be counted towards achieving Club Freccia Alata forever status".
