Reset of Millemiglia program

I see this on their website:
The edition of the MilleMiglia Program will expire on 31 December, 2019. Therefore you can continue to earn miles until that date and spend miles for awards by January 31, 2020.

But I saw elsewhere that this was deferred until 2021. Does anyone know if the miles are resetting the end of January 2020?

Is this a sign of things to come, the end? But before Air Berlin went bankrupt it was the opposite, endless miles earning offers and promotions.

It is still the case for AZ. If you were taking flights via LIN in November there were up to 10K miles bonus to be earned.

Feels very Air Berlin like, then. I wonder if anyone here runs a significant balance at Millemiglia.

Ah you mean the process that resets your accounts and determines status upgrades or downgrades?

No.

Millemiglia has always been like this. It “reboots” every few years, and you may not be able to carry forward miles from the old programme to the new one.

Some countries have unusual restrictions on frequent flyer or loyalty programmes based in their territory. Norway banned the awarding of frequent flyer miles on domestic flights until 2013, for example. It appears that Millemiglia’s need to “reboot” every few years is as a result of Italian law.

Here was the most recent “reboot”, in 2018 - the first explains the mechanism for carrying over miles used at that time:
Are all miles going to expire on Jan 2018?
New edition of the Millemiglia Program 2018

Here’s another “reboot”, from 2008:
New AZ Millemiglia program

And here are some previous “extensions”:
Validity of MilleMiglia program extended until 31 December 2017
Millemiglia, the program continues

Note that “restart”, as used in the context of the current thread title, is misleading. Rather than “restarting”, the programme is merely “continuing”.
