So not really good news for the Region of Lugano... And I doubt that this market is as important for MXP...
Thanks for the correction. I think they plan to run more trains in the future, but as we know it the Swiss-Italian "collaboration" in railway issues is far from easy ...

Any updates on how Air Italy is doing? Guessing it's not going to be integrated into OW anytime soon.

There was never any real question of Air Italy joining oneworld. LATAM is now leaving the alliance (although Royal Air Maroc is joining) - so Akbar al Baker's stated desire above to invest in airlines that are oneworld members is becoming more and more flimsy.

Air Italy is losing several of its leased aircraft this summer; one of its five leased Qatar A330s goes to Blue Panorama this month, with another two to leave the Air Italy fleet in July and August. There's a squeeze on the shorthaul fleet too, as (like so many airlines), Air Italy is having to cope without the arrival of the 737 Max into its fleet - it was originally due to have 4 by June.

The unions are also getting restive; Air Italy flight attendants aren't getting enough hours, and they are getting fed up with all the wet lease operators being brought in to patch up the network.

Things are getting even worst...and here no money from the government.
2019 financial results were a deep loos, bankrupt is not a remote hypothesis.

Long live to Alitalia!
It seems that Air Italy will be gone very soon. Rumors say it will stop fly end of February.
Another evidence that transports are a big issue in Italy....including highways badly managed and rails not correctly maintained.

I may now confirm the bad news for the sector: https://www.airitaly.com/it-it/
Stop all flights after 25 February: refund or rebooking where possible.

Anyone have a clue what happens if we have Delta tickets on Alitalia metal? Would prefer reschedule rather than refund at this late point in the game.

Simply because someone believed that Air Italy was part of the offensive of Oneworld against Alitalia.
In fact Alitalia is surviving while Air Italy finally gave up after few months.

So, yes, Alitalia is still here...and, no worries, Alitalia will likely remain among us as explained in other threads.
