Whilst I have never encountered such error message (nor anything even remotely similar to that, for the records) while checking-in, I would however suggest the following steps: double check your reservation through the relevant section (i.e. My Flights) on the Alitalia website to see if everything is okay, clear your browser's cache/cookies/history and try to check-in again. Failing all attempts, give UK customer services a call (even though it may be too late now, if you are based in Poland), they will be more than happy to look into this for you - their number is +443335665544.

In the worst case scenario, just turn up at the airport a bit earlier - assuming you will be flying from Warsaw, the Alitalia station manager (that's the only lady wearing an Alitalia uniform behind the check-in desk) is extremely helpful and she's been around for ages, or you could always try the Alitalia ticketing desk (left-hand side as you face the check-in desks).

Please let us know how you get on (and I'm assuming you are aware that check-in opens 48 hours prior to departure?).

Well thanks for answer, yea i i know i have 48 hours, i have next day tomorrow to figur out this stuff, well was already trying to do this on three different devices so it's not about device cookies or something like this, defintely problem on alitalia side, on My Flights i have correctly my flight displayed as well payment information etc.

EDIT: Well it got fixed itself because it worked now, so no need to panic and call etc

Hello everyone,
I flew Alitala so far twice, back in 2013 in Y BEG-FCO (operated by Air Serbia) / FCO-BEG and in 2016 in Y BEG-FLR via FCO.

Now I plan booking Alitalia Premium Economy Y+ for my summer trip (June 2019) BEG-FCO-YYZ. I went through the topic, but I still need to inquire with you about the following - legs BEG-FCO and FCO-BEG are shown as Business. Is that a standard for Alitalia? And that entails loung acces in for BEG-FCO outbound segment and FCO-BEG inbound?

Also, does Alitalia offer dedicated business/premium economy shuttle bus in case of plane being in distant parking positiion?

It is not uncommon for either the domestic or 'European' sector (in your specific case: BEG-FCO) to book into C (business) when purchasing a Y+ fare so, yes, you will be flying business from Belgrade to Rome and vice-versa, meaning lounge access at both ends (and I hope you have a reasonably long layover, which would allow you to make the most of the new Casa Alitalia lounge at FCO/3/E).

Apologies, I had missed that one. The answer is not I'm afraid but you'll be pleased to hear that Belgrade flights tend to dock on to an E gate at T3, that's at least the pattern I've noticed in my years of flying the route (and this year I did quite a few Sarajevo to Rome via Belgrade - we only once parked at a remote stand and noticed a few Alitalia staff once we got off the bus as we were late and people were running to make their connections).

Flying Alitalia Rome to Palermo in a few days time.

Two questions - the carry-on luggage sizing seems to be marginally different to other airlines - my hard-sided case is the right height, but 5cm too wide (and 5 cm thinner than the max). Any views on whether that's an issue?
Secondly, are Alitalia status matching these days? I have Qantas Gold and Cathay Diamond....

Concerning the carry-on, most likely not. While staff at outstations tend to be slightly more 'vigilant' on such matters (and some of those outstations have proper weighing tools etc.), I've however never really experienced any 'proper' checks at Fiumicino. Also, Palermo services are mostly operated by Airbus A321 aircraft hence I can't really see a problem there.

There's a significant degree of uncertainty surrounding Alitalia's loyalty program at the moment: long-story-short, MilleMiglia is basically owned by Etihad and, as you're probably already aware, the 2 carriers are currently discontinuing most commercial agreements. There are rumours suggesting that Alitalia could probably launch an alternative frequent flyer scheme and at that time they will probably be more keen to status-match.

Long layover questions:
We have two separate bookings, one EU-FCO followed by a long haul flight out of FCO.
We arrive around noon and plan is to collect bags and regroup/reconfigure for a day walking around Rome. Well plan using the left luggage service at the airport and then take the train to Termini. Q: any recent experience with the left luggage service(s)?
Q: How early can we check our bags in for our long haul flight? We figured wed be back around 1900 for a 2230 departure, which will give us plenty of time to shower/freshen up in the lounge and eat dinner.
Were flying AZ the whole time.
Thank you

Alitalia award mile expiry

I'm looking at signing up to a SkyTeam airline to get miles for Aeromexico flights I have coming up this year. FlyingBlue is one option, as is the Alitalia programme. I can see a downside of Flying Blue is that you have to fly one paid fare every 20 months to ensure the miles don't expire. Are there similar limitations for Alitalia and/or anything else to bear in mind? Thanks.

Does the Alitalia programme itself (and with it, all the miles) expire every few years?

However, if you do not expect to fly at least once every 20 months, what would be the reason for collecting miles? By the time you will have collected any significant amount the miles will probably have devaluated enough to be pretty much worthless..

Yes; AZ Millemiglia is unique (? correct me if I'm wrong) in that the programme itself expires, rather than just the miles as in most other programmes.

There are occasional "extensions", but every now and again it will come to an end.

They usually have some kind of option to try and "carry forward" the miles, but if the flyer here is baulking at having to fly once every 20 months [except that, in Flying Blue it's now actually 24 months], they would certainly find themselves in a scenario where they would lose their miles in AZ Millemiglia.

For instance, a new programme started on 1 January 2018. Miles earned in the "old" programme could be saved, on a pro-rata basis, only if you did additional flying, and the amount of miles you could carry forward was capped depending on your status (those without status could only carry forward at most 50% of their mileage balance, and had to take additional flights in a specified format and time in order to be able to save half their miles from expiry)...

Are all miles going to expire on Jan 2018?

Of course, there is no guarantee that the next changeover will use the same scheme, or even that there will be a mechanism to carry miles from the old programme to the new.

The best advice on the changeover last year was to spend the miles (and I will be travelling on the ticket on which I burned all my miles starting tomorrow!).

The best advice for the person asking about dumping orphan miles in any account (not just AZ) - forget about the miles.

Correct and it's all due to one of those archaic Italian regulations which, without descending into (boring) details, imposes an expiry date to loyalty programs and other similar arrangements.

Ha! And I thought that being an EU member state - nay, a founding member - meant that a country wasn't in charge of its own laws

Forgive the OT, but given the day that's in it...

Okay, so a very basic question, but I couldn't find the answer. (Clearly wasn't looking very hard)
I just took some flights this month and earned just under 40.000 miles. I kind of expected to get the Ulisse status, but it didn't come up. I called them and was told that statuses are upgraded every year on 31st of March and at that point I will get the status. So, does my status restart on 31 March valid for one year, or? I was kind of planning to take a trip in May with them to get Freccia Alata status, but would this not work since it won't be before 31 March? Their website says calendar year, so I thought it was 1 Jan-31 Dec. So would be nice to know what I am missing, because honestly I am quite confused...

Hi,

It will take a few days for the new status to reflect on your account, this will be valid up to March 31st 2021 (same goes if you make it to Freccia Alata before December 31st 2019 i.e. your 'updated' status will expire in March 2021).
