MCT / minimum connect time @ FCO / Rome Fiumicino
I land into terminal 1 and out from terminal 3 with a connection time of just 45 minutes, both inbound and outbound flights are with AZ. Is this a legal connection ?

That's the minimum time required by AZ's booking system. T1-T3 is just a short airside walk, so you should be alright.

What about for a non Schengen connection? TLV-FCO-FLR
Security delays? Arriving at 8 PM from Tel Aviv, Departing 9 PM for Florence on Friday After that there's passport control to get past. The queues here can be really long too, for non-EU passport holders. Am hoping for you that you have an EU passport and can use the lanes to the right.... Good luck. |

I fear this is going to be extremely tight. For about an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, the transit area is a complete zoo, with no priority lanes at all, and my worry is that your evening arrival might coincide with this.

MCT at FCO
I am flying AZ 611 JFK-FCO then connecting to AZ 204 FCO-LHR. With a connection time of 45 minutes. Is this a legal connection ?

You will have to... fly to make it (sorry for the horrible pun; I had to make it).
I assume the two flights are on the same ticket? 45 min seem very short, but if AZ claims you can do it, it means *in theory* you can, or they will have to reprotect you to another flight. A dummy booking shows at least 3 direct flights during the day and several 1-stop flights. |
You will probably make it but don't count on your luggage to!

Yes, standard MCT International-International online connections at FCO is 45 min.

Hi All,
I haven't transited in FCO in almost a decade and could use some help. I'm flying from MAD to MXP via FCO, and I have 65 minutes to connect to the last flight of the day to MXP (AZ 1030). I'm a little worried about the transit time because I'm flying back to the US on a separate ticket the next morning. Is connecting through FCO from AZ-operated flight to an AZ-operated flight--in this case, AZ CityLiner--pretty easy? I'm assuming that I won't need to go through passport formalities/customs. I hold a US passport. Also, I don't expect to check baggage -- though I suspect that EU airlines are much stricter about carry-on bags than most US carriers. If I'm forced to check my rollerboard, will my luggage likely make it? For what it's worth, I'm a ST Elite+, so I don't know if that will make a difference in this entire scenario, particularly as it relates to priority queuing or transit help. Thanks all :) |

A word of caution: As flights in Europe often accumulate delays over the day (happens to all airlines, not only AZ), I'd look at a Plan B. How would you get to Milano? Would it be possible to take an earlier flight from MAD or switch the departure of your TATL to FCO? Look also at the possibility of using the train for your domestic leg. I know, I know, I'm overcautious, but you not only risk loosing your connection, but also your ticket! |
