MilleMiglia 2013 rumors
Hi, a few rumors collected from friends and leaks on the Facebook page:
Points 1-2-3 are almost certain, point 4 is a fact, point 5 matter of speculations...
- There will be a 2013 "MilleMiglia" program. No merger with FB.
- The new program will start at zero miles, probably carry over status, just like in 2008
- Miles from the current programme will be expendable till June 2013 to fly up to a year later
- A mechanism for carrying over miles is promised as part of the Amex Alitalia package in the US
- Today, a FB team representative made reference to "possible solutions" for people with a "large amount of miles" to carry them over.
Points 1-2-3 are almost certain, point 4 is a fact, point 5 matter of speculations...

Miles are useless unless you spend them. Its not the same as having cash in the bank - that goes for any FF program
Do hope that MM remains separate from FB although I must say I'm not so sure (would save AZ a lot of money to join AF / KL on FF scheme I'd reckon..)

Alitalia is really generous in miles, despite changes few months ago.
it's a good things to join FB program, if the project to merge AZ with AF / KLM still exists.

a) you fly AZ or codeshare AZ buying off AZ with AZ flight number (9W, EY, AF etc etc)
b) if you fly J. Yes 300% bonus is excellent
c) if you have AMEX AZ card (4 miles per on Alitalia and they are QUALIFYING on AZ spend)
BUT... Not so generous if you
a) fly domestically. Its a bit better now but still MUCH easier to get status by flying longhaul rather then taking 10's of flights domestically
b) fly cheap Y tickets (as with most airlines)
c) flying J + F on skyteam carriers, except AF as I found out a few weeks ago
and lastly d) PROMO awards and special offers don't really exist for MM. OK a few things for earning more miles - but not on redemptions...

Uhm... A few days ago I was invited by AZ to join a customer focus group due to take part into a series of panels/questionnaires. Interestingly the topic of the first one was AZ-AF-KL "further integration"... Very specific subjects and questions, with a lot of attention on the respective frequent flyer programs as well as routes, service and premium cabins.
I had never heard of a potential MM/FB merger... But now I am a bit concerned.

I haven't heard any rumours but I just have a bad feeling that FB is round the corner.
It would save AZ money and it would resolve the problem of MM lasting always only two or three years as FB would be based in France
Would create them problems with AMEX and a few other banks..

Then, with the AF cash crisis, integration of the airlines got postponed, and FB integration plans too.
My own 2c, complete speculation.
