New Magnifica - Business Class from US?

I am traveling to Rome in May 2011 and see that Alitalia has revamped new Business Class on "intercontinental" flights from Milan. Anyone have any idea if this new Business Class will be offered on Boston, JFK or Miami flights to FCO anytime in the near future? I have checked www.seatguru.com and don't even see A330 aircraft listed in Aliltalia fleet. Thank you for any info you can provide.

Yes it's true and the 330 will be installed on the FCO-JFK route on some rotations as of this winter. There are rumours that the 772's will be refurbished to have the same J as the 330's as well. Lastly, be sure not to get on the 332 (which has an Air One logo) as it is very very notorious for various reasons.

As far as I can tell from looking recently for myself...

JFK/ROME route has an option for a 330 on the return to JFK only, not the way there. JFK/LIN offer it round trip.

Flights:
AZ608-609 will operate with 330 as of 01OCT
AZ610-611 will operate with 330 as of 20FEB

If you are unable to book the right flight it may be that it is full on that day.

Does anyone know if the Alitalia flights from Newark will eventually have the new A330's? If so,when will the switch be made.

Thanks!

The notorious 332's are expected to continue operating the FCO-EWR indefinitely, except for a few weeks in the winter in which the route will be covered by a 764. Hopefully the 332's will be refurbished at this time, and the fact that a 764 will be available during that time mean that these 764's will be in unintensive use ready for phase-out.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Ugh! I would prefer not flying the A332 so my other options are to fly from JFK or CO from Newark.

Hi SDP, the 767 will be used indefinitely (probably till phase-out) on this route.

Hi,

Wondered what changes might be up on the BOS-FCO route, and what the business class experience was likely to be like. What aircraft?

Thanks.

Hi africaflier, the BOS-FCO route will be operated by the notorious 332's indefinitely (a reconfiguration might happen this winter but don't count on it). From what I've heard the J isn't too bad, so if you're a J customer you can try it, the soft product at least has recently been updated.

Btw, I'm not an insider or anything, all route schedule/aircraft information can be checked using Alitalia TravelDesk, which is updated monthly and avaiable here:

That would be JFK/MXP. LIN does not handle intercontinental flights.

MIA-MXP

Just to be sure, I'm booked MIA-MXP (AZ637) this coming week. Is this the notorious a330 or the new seats?

Thanks
