Alaska Trip Report
I posted my trip report in the Reports forum, but there is alot of information in the report which might be of interest to folks here...so I am posting a link to the report, and that thread also has a link to my photos.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=701673 If anyone has Alaska-centric questions about what I saw, where I went or anything else, please feel free to post here or PM me |
I was in Seward when you posted your report. You and I are going to cross paths one day, if we haven't already. :D
We rented a house from a local company called Aksala Alaska for $100 per night. We got a Priceline-type last minute deal though as it usually rents for over $200. Great place across from the beach. Had a nice, well-stocked kitchen, w/d, bedroom and living room with two big futon sofa beds. At night we checked out the new Seward Alehouse. Nice place with the best beer selection in town. Much nicer than Tony's, the local dive frequented by the fish industry employees. Most pints we encountered in Alaska were $4.50 and most were worth it, especially the Oatmeal Stout from Glacier Brewhouse. Toured the aquarium. Not much to it. Did most of our cooking in after shopping at Safeway. Visited Exit Glacier but only saw poop for animals. Would love to spend a summer in Seward!! Luckily I found SkySaver seats in F only two weeks out. ATL-SLC, SLC-ANC then ANC-LAX and LAX-ATL. Best use of 45,000 miles ever. |

There were animals at Exit Glacier likely looking at you! |

However, our use of 50,000 each for coach seats saved us almost $1,800 in coach air fares between us and was well worth it. |
