I need help getting to Ancorage from Miami

I need to find the least cost way to get from Miami to Ancorage AK for 3 people.

This is an emergency case, my mother is dying and I need to get there in late June when the rest of the family will be there.

Because of the distance, I would prefer 1st or business class.

I have 14 first class upgrades on American but I have lost both my Platinum and Gold status. I have 39,000 available miles.

I have not travel for 4 years so I do not know what to do can anyone help ?

i'm not sure about AA's redemption values, but your 39k should almost cover 2 tickets, leaving you to just purchase one.

Have you called the AAdvantage desk to see what your options are?

You could try Alaska Airlines (via SEA). You can buy a cheap ticket (and/or cash in AA miles for AS flights) and buy upgrades on day of departure if available.

Last I checked before I moved out of ANC, AA was not flying there. I would look at Northwest/Alaska Airlines or Delta...but you might also be able to get a deal on United. During the summer, they usually offer service out of Chicago to bring the cruise ship passengers home, and you might be able to get a reasonable price.

AA has seasonal service to ANC (June 1 to Sept, end date varies by city). Flies ORD-ANC, STL-ANC and DFW-ANC, all on 757s. Easy to get there on AAdvantage miles, but need 120K miles for 3 F tickets, 39K is not quite enough for 1!
