Best time of year for trout fishing?

I hired a guide for a couple days to go trout fishing on/around the Coopers Landing early last September, and we did really well. However, the guide alluded to another time of year being even better. Does anyone know if there's any truth to that?

Are you talking just about the Kenai River drainage, or other places too?

Trout (including Dolly Varden char) are pretty plentiful in the Kenai most of the summer. I prefer August/September because it's also a great time for silver salmon in the same water.

Pretty much anywhere. I did silvers last September too, but I had more fun sight-casting to the dollies and rainbows tailing the reds in smaller water.
