JNU-SEA - Which Side of Aircraft to Sit?
 

Sorry, didn't see any existing threads for this.

When flying JNU-SEA, which side would you recommend to sit for some interesting scenery? Looking at FlightAware, if I sit on the left/port side, I might get a nice view of the mountains departing JNU and possibly Vancouver, Bellingham, Whidbey Island, and Seattle. If I sit on the right/starboard side, I might be able to see a bit of the Inside Passage, Haida Gwii, and Vancouver Island.

Sitting on left side you would have coastal mountains you can see.

flying out of Juneau I think the direction it takes off from matters

The plane could fly more inland over the coastal range because of YVR airspace than enter approach to SEA from north. Thr ones on the right might see the cruise channel.

id look at flight aware and see different routes it takes.

I usually tell people to sit on the left JNU-SEA. The mountains are usually more interesting to most. Of course, the weather will determine if you see anything at all.

I sat on the left side this morning and we departed to the south. Enjoyed the views of downtown Juneau and the mountains on the way out while under the clouds; it cleared up about 45 minutes outside of Seattle and had a nice view of the San Juan Islands, Whidbey Island, Seattle, and Tacoma before looping around and landing to the north at SEA.
