"Into The Wild" Bus Removed
Fairbanks Bus 142, also known as the "Magic Bus" or the "Into the Wild" bus has been removed by the Alaska National Guard from the Stampede Trail.
CNN Article I suspect the authorities were frustrated with the amount of people who needed to be rescued trekking to the bus. |
I read that too. Thanks for posting. Its about time that bus was removed. Too many unprepared people needing to be rescued - or worse dying.

During my (preventative) incarceration I've been watching a helluva lot of TV, and have found myself watching some of the Alaska "reality TV" shows like Life Below Zero, and because I worked on the chain for years, I've caught up (ha ha) with the Deadliest Catch. These are just two of what must be half a dozen or more series set in Alaska, ranging from the Kilcher clan in Homer to people working the railroad, gold miners in Southeast, the Yukon, and in Nome, Alaska State Troopers, and I don't know how many more.
The thing with the bus being moved made me wonder how many people from Outside come up and try to live something like the lives portrayed in the series. I remember when the pipeline was under construction, you'd go to the airport and see dozens of people walking off the planes expecting to land big-money jobs on the North Slope or working with the oil industry; the State had to impose something like "immigration" policies (which of course went straight to the courts) at the time. Just idle thinking on my part. |
