Thanks for bringing this back up, allset2travel. As usual, your pix are terrific.
I noticed that a lot of my own images were invisible due to broken links that occurred when I changed servers on my website, so since FT allows eternal editing, I went ahead and re-posted them. And since I'm wandering along Memory Lane, I'll upload a couple of more, if that's okay.

Gardyloo,
Thanks.
Appreciate your bringing back some nice vantage shots.
BTW, I was inspired by your up-post from your Mirror Lake shots. So I went there late last month and captured a couple.

Not sure of the glacier, will look some more.
Since it's now winter in much of Alaska, I thought I'd post a couple of older winter pictures.

The Chain
I'm still scanning old negs and slides and thought a few of these from the Aleutian chain might be of interest, all taken ca. 1978-80
The Grumman Goose I rode on all the time, seen here on the beach at King Cove. It was operated by Reeve Aleutian, then PenAir before it crashed near DUT in 1981, killing the pilot (who I knew) and a Nikolski local.

The runway at DUT with a small jet taking off, probably on a medevac. The strip couldn't handle commercial jet traffic until it was extended around 1981.

Unalaska/Dutch Harbor scenes. The grey buildings are mostly left over from World War II, when the island was occupied by the US military during the Aleutian campaign. The village was bombed by the Japanese but the feared invasion never took place.

A couple of scenes from the head of Akutan Bay, where we were looking for potential sites for a micro-hydro generator facility; at the time the community only had DC power from a 60+ year old Pelton wheel.

A couple of the floating processors in Akutan Bay

Akutan village "street" scenes
